What does modesty even mean?
Modesty starts from within. God will convict and prick the hearts of his children, pushing for a change. “In the same way, you who are younger must accept the authority of the elders. And all of you, dress yourselves in humility as you relate to one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. ” (1 Peter 5:5)
Modesty manifests in various ways for both males and females. It isn’t only about clothes. Modesty is the way you carry yourself, how you speak, and how you honor the body that God has given you. Your body is a temple; it is to be honored and treated with the utmost respect. God calls us to be separated from the world; not only are we to refrain from speaking and acting like the world, but we should also dress in a manner set apart. There should be something different about a follower of Christ!

What should Godly women even do?
As a woman of God, it is very important that you guard your body the same way we are told to guard our hearts. Your body is a temple. “And I want women to be modest in their appearance. They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fix their hair or by wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes. ” ( 1 Timothy 2:9 NLT) This suggests that women should adorn themselves beautifully, but not in an elaborate way. Next, understand that whatever you wear should never draw attention to others. Modesty is not boastful or full of the world. We are not here to bribe others because of our outward appearance. “Don’t be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, jewelry, or beautiful clothes. You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God. ” (1 Peter 3: 3-4)
Can men be modest?
As a man of God, modesty applies to you as well. “So let's stop condemning each other. Decide instead to live in such a way that will not cause another believer to stumble and fall. ” (Romans 14:13). The things you wear can attract or distract other believers. Modesty for men involves humility, respect, and self-control in both appearance and behavior. By choosing clothing and actions that honor God, you help foster an environment where others can grow spiritually without unnecessary distractions. Your example can encourage other men to pursue a Christ-centered life, demonstrating that modesty is a reflection of inner transformation and reverence for God.
Honoring God
In closing, Modesty is a beautiful thing that should be honored and adored. Respecting your body goes beyond who you allow to see it; how are you carrying yourself? Let your actions, words, and choices consistently reflect a heart devoted to God. When you live out modesty, you become a living testimony of His grace, inspiring others to honor Him in every aspect of their lives
